This and that ...

Creating a Character

First, you need to decide their gender. Begin to shape their personality, and weave in their situation in order to fit the personality and explain their individual mannerisms.
Find the things that make them tick - not 'brown hair' or 'smart'; but that they love PB&J or wear toe rings. Something that sets them apart.
You build up their appearance afterwards - it's less important than their personality and situation. The key is not to make them cliché - personally, I find it's best to base my characters off of someone(s) that I really know; it generally makes the characters more realistic and gives them a greater depth.

Some actions should not be repressed

I am not someone I'd identify as being a crier, but if you've ever had the chance to see the Broadway production of War Horse, you'd understand.
It's a brilliant production, and truly a moving piece. Tears fell no matter how hard you try to prevent them, but its difficult to find the will to truly wipe them away. In this case, the performers really deserved them.

What is a post secret?

If you type it into Google, the first thing that’ll pop up is a community with a brief definition on the first page:

“PostSecret is an ongoing community art project where people mail in their secrets anonymously on one side of a homemade postcard.” – www.postsecret.com

Frank Warren created it with the idea that the secrets would be empowering, inspirational to those who read them, healing to those who write them and give hope to those who identify with a stranger’s secret. Basically, to create an anonymous community centered on acceptance.

Personally, I am a rather private person and find this activity to be rather odd; after all, for me a secret is a secret, meaning it’s meant to be kept. Confessing to a bunch of media strangers you’ll never meet… It’s not something I completely understand, though I guess it’s comprehensible, in an odd way.

It began in 2001, and has been an incredible success – it’s sad that so many people don’t have a close friend they can confide to, but would rather splash it anonymously across the Internet.

I guess you could say this is a little bit like playback theater, both have the goal of trying to psychologically heal the author/ audience.
It certainly falls in with one of the genres under the umbrella of theater of the oppression, I think.
